The Thomas Lyte Modern Heritage Award attracted over 200 entrants in 2009, part of an initiative launched by Thomas Lyte in partnership with the Crafts Council to offer young designer-makers a platform. British craftsmen are asked to take inspiration from English culture and create functional pieces out of silver, fine metals, glass, wood or leather.
